Why Komen Flip-Flop is Actually Good News for Pro-Life

A few days ago, Komen announced that it was no longer offering grants to Planned Parenthood. I cheered and my husband cast a suspicious eye upon the whole thing. They are doing it for the wrong reasons. It won't last. It seems that he was right.

Today, Komen announced that they are going to cave to the significant pressure put on them by various groups and continue funding Planned Parenthood... even though there is evidence showing that abortions increase breast cancer and Planned Parenthood is the number one abortion provider in the world... even though Planned Parenthood does not offer mammograms... even though donations increased significantly after the initial announcement of their severed ties.

The good news is that pro-life life people can no longer ignore the relationship between Komen pink and abortion. There are many Christian people out there who never got the memo, didn't read the memo, or just ignored the memo, about what has been going on. Too many people who did not want to think about the fact that their enthusiastic, well-intentioned fund-raising efforts have gone, in part, to support the murder of innocent children.

The truth is out and all over the news. Most people will now have full knowledge of these facts before they give consent, money and support. There is no excuse for pro-life people to continue to walk with Komen.

  1. I don't necessarily think the waffle was the best thing. Before they bowed to social pressure from the pro-death circles, their decision to cut funding resulted in Planned Parenthood receiving many large donations as a result of Komen cutting funding. So now they not only have the funding from Koman again, but they also have additional funds which will lead to more innocent unborn life being destroyed. I'm doubtful that much good will come out of this situation.

  2. I agree, Karen... it was a bad thing to start with and bad thing now. The only obvious good that will come of this is the increased media attention that will let Christian people know, once and for all, that this is a bad organization to support.

  3. I still don't know exactly what to think about all of this. We will not be supporting Komen in any way until they take a firm stand against donating to Planned Parenthood. What exactly is all this money going towards since it is my understanding PP doesn't own any mamography equipment. Is it just screening which all women should be doing on their own each month anyhow?

The one thing I know for sure, is that we will continue to pray, pray, pray and speak openly of the evils of PP to anyone who will listen. All of PP's bad press lately (and by the mainstream media too!) is making people more receptive to at least entertaining the notion PP is not the champion for women's health that they claim to be.

  4. Agree about Good News for Pro-Life now more people will know about Komen. Also my feeling is they have to do something big since so many women have quit PP and are reveling whaAnont goes on befhind closed doors. Also so many PP offices have closed because of the increase in all people of different faiths praying during 40 days for Life, another will start in the spring. They had to get a big headline prior to the opening date.
